Last week I received my order from Fast Larry (thanks Fast!), comprising a BK Cue, moosehead bridge, new stroke-trainer thing and the DVD set.

I will review the stroke-trainer after I've had it a little longer, so I can better guage whether it helps my game - but I'll probably put that in the stroke-trainer thread Fast made. I might do an initial impressions review too. I've not watched the DVDs yet, so will comment on those later too.

However, I have played with the cue and tried the moosehead bridge.

Cue: Big Kahuna, model: Terminator ($135).

Wow, I like it a lot. To be honest, American pool isn't that big over here, and my experience of American cues to date is limited to house cues (some of which were reasonable quality) and my crappy old cue with a dodgy laminated shaft and a rubbish tip.

The BK cue is a real pleasure to play with. It cues nicely, has a nice weight to it, and has a quality tip. (Fast upgraded mine, and it seems to give very nice action on the CB). I was making decent shots with it, and getting decent action on the cue ball. I think I will play more American pool, and will enjoy it a lot more, now that I have the cue.

Fast was also kind enough to install a limb-saver (at no extra cost) and I was shocked at the difference it made. I expected it might make a small difference on the harder-hit shots, but wouldn't be that big a deal. In fact it seems to make the cue play a lot smoother after contact. I don't know whether it helps execute a more effective follow-through, but it wouldn't surprise me. I'm impressed by the product.

Moosehead bridge (around $5. I forget exactly)

I like it. Gives you lots of different heights, is a convenient size and shape. Very useful to have it to hand for the bars I play in, where the rests tend to be at best dodgy or at worst absent entirely. If it makes the difference to win me a couple of frames I'd otherwise have lost it'll be worth the money, and I think that should happen in the next 3 or 4 months.

Mine has a rubber gromit that seems to fit english pool and snooker cue ferrules of around 10mm. I don't know whether it'd fit an american cue (and didn't want to try on the BK!), or whether Fast stocks them in different sizes for different customers. Perhaps he can let us know.
