Pig lights, was what we called them.

Memories of them was brought back to me watching the 1944 movie, Laura, where the Bull put the suspect in the room, and turned on two big spot lights each had a 200 watt incadescent light bulb in it, and they were about 3' from your face, so they generated heat, and the bright lights burned into your eyes.

A half century ago, in 61, in Hot Springs, Ark, I was arrested for Rape and Murder, a bum rap and once the guilty one confessed, they let me loose the next day, But I first went under the pig lights there. The bulls were brutal back then, animals. They would blow smoke in your face, step on your toes, kick you in the shins, and if you did not sing like a canary, they would begin to slap you around with a slap jack, into the ribs or to the side of the head. After a few hours of torture you would be willing to confess to slicin and dicin OJ's ole lady just to get those fookin lights out of your eyes. They would not let you sleep and kept you up and kept working you over.

Rights, right, back then, you had no fookin rights. They had a right to kick the ever loving shit out of you. Some of these bulls, really liked their work. If you ran from them, they would pull out their rod and blaze away at you.

And they had prisons in Louisiana & Texas that were equal to the concentration camps Hitler ran. See the movie, cool hand luke, cummins prison farm in Ark. The Bulls, did not get their new name, pigs, for nothing.
