I'm not sure what you are asking? Are you asking what to call it? Table cloth. If you are asking if it is cloth or felt, it is cloth. Or maybe I just didn't get the question.

Sorry, what I mean is that I have a new cloth that I want to install in my table. This cloth has not markings or any signal to know what is the side that goes up (or playing surface?). I want to know if there is a way to know which side is supposed to be the playing surface. Thanks.

Most will have a noticably smoother side. You can also check with the manufacture, distributor or the person you got it from. They usually have some way to tell.

I finally managed to recover my old and beaten 7 footer (not bad for a noobie, don't you think?)

looks great, putting the bed cloth on is easy, the rails are hard, especially getting it right around and in the pockets. Just pay close attention to how the old cloth comes off. Even take a video of it.

Nice job. I have a 9 foot table. I dont have the stones to do it myself.
