I miss Jr so badly. His replacement is here, but Jr was not replaceable, but life goes on, so I call the new dog Jay. Jr stood for Jack Russell. Jr was a huge jack, damn near 24 lbs, Jay is 17.7, about average for a large male Jack and once I fatten him up some he will make 20. JR was huge for a Jack, huge teeth, Jays are just average. Jay is a little shorter and not quite as tall as JR. But if you did not know them well, they look almost the same.

Both are $800 pure breed dogs and could show, perfect lines. I don't care about all that dog show bull shit. It's for a bunch of snooty rich pricks and its all political and fixed. Fook em. I did not even send in the papers to register Bee Bee they gave me when I bought her, I could care less.

Jay still has a lot of puppy actions left in him, so we figure him for 1.5 yrs old. He got out when he was 6 months old, turned over to a rescue lady, who has had him in a cage for a year. She has about 15 to 20 you can choose from and you walk up to his cage there and he goes fookin beserk. He did a run back and forth in that cage at warp 7. It was so fast, and him jumping straight up in the air 5' tall over and over, you went holy shit, that dog is bonkers, and moved on. He killed him self off right there, everyone passed him by but me. He literally shocked and scared the shit out of everyone who thought, that dogs nuts. Yo, that was what I was looking for. I never dreamed I would find it so fast.

I took him out into an open field with a Tennis ball and played with him for an hour. You can not wear him out. I never saw anything so fast. They said, neither had they, and they had worked with Jacks for 15 years. They said, put him into any agility competition and he wins every time. He can be a full gallop and make a 90 degree turn, you can't believe your eyes. I thought our little small female Jack was fast, he ran circles around her. So the dog, nobody wanted, I saw something special in.

The lady who runs this place on her farm, takes in Jacks that are lost and picked up so they wont be put down by the pounds, and try's to find them good homes. They live in a series of kennel like cages during the day, and when she got home at night, she brings them all into the house to play with her, then let them sleep in the basement where it was warm. She called him Nitro, because she said, he could explode like Nitro Glycerin. She liked him and played tug with him at night. Nothing was more powerful than him. She could not understand, why nobody wanted him.

Once I got him home, I realized I had a dog, who had lived in a cage outside, mostly lonely and ignored for this first very critical year of his life. The poor thing, only wanted a home, and love, and a master. She swore he was very sweet and I took her word on it. It was true and Yo Sarah is really falling for him big.

When I got him home, holy shit, this dog has no off switch, I wanted to call him Atilla the Hun, the scourge of God, who keeps coming and coming and nobody can stop. He wore everyone out, including the 2 yr old little bee bee Jack, she can not keep up with him. He is chasing her, dragging her around, play fighting with her, and he found all the toys of 25 years of dogs, and dragged everyone out. He is having a blast, but, he has zero couth.

Not a clue how to be a house dog, and the bad news is, of course, he is not house broken, which we are working on. I am making progress, I like to go out into my backyard new greenhouse and sit in it and have a drink at 5pm, especially when its raining and I can see all the trees through the top of it. He also found it, it has a door on each end, and I installed a doggie door, probably a mistake, since he went, damn, I come in here, 30' long, I cant get wet, and he is using it to do all his poo poos in. I can live with that, but he is marking all over the house, and that is a problem. As soon as we break him, we are tearing out all the carpet and coming back with wood floors.

Then he began doing something I still have not been able to figure out, we wanted him to sleep in our bed with our other two females, Abbey, the 55lb mountain cur, the boss bitch, and little bee bee. Maybe it was his attempt to mark his territory, but for 5 days in a row, he took a giant pee right in the middle of the bed, and everything had to be washed. Last night was the first night, he did not do it, so maybe, I got the message across to him. That one alone, 95% of people who adopt dogs, would have sent him back. What dog, pees where he sleeps?

My position is, I don't care what his problem is, I will deal with it, cure it, change it, make it right, no matter how long it takes.

Taking on something like him, and making something out of him, is something, few could do, or would do. I watched My Fair Lady last night, and it then dawned on me, I am fookin proffesor Doolittle. And Jay, is Elisa. I am taking this total uncouth gutter snipe, and I will turn him into something magnificent, where he will be paid to tour NYC, Las Vegas, and perform on TV in Hollywood, just like Jr, Max and Jake did. He will eat the finest foods, live like a King. Travel and see the entire country at my side, as my pal and partner.

But the Jury is still out. He has so many problems, but I am sure, they will be solved, and he will grow up and move out of his puppy over exuberance. I know he's smart, I taught him the top 20 dog tricks in two days time, and in 4 days, he has them all down cold where he could go on the stage with them now. My control of him now is weak, his attention span is short. Next comes the standard obedience controls, and leash control. And if he comes through that, then I will train him on the dog pool act. I had put 4 years of training into Jr, and had him where he was dead perfect.

Jay lays in my arms while I am watching TV and night, kisses and licks on me, he does love me, and I do love him, but we have not bonded. That is something the dog does with you, and not you with him. I guess right now, we are both saying its a good, but both, standing off for some reason, probably because both of us have been hurt, and don't want to go through it again. Neither of us, is for sure?

He loves to chase and bring back a Tennis ball just like JR did. That one, was a must, and a deal breaker for any dog that did not, and many don't.

Trying to take a picture of Jay, is damn near impossible because he never holds still in any position. He is constantly moving. A couple people wanted to see what he looked like, so here are the first ones I took. His front facial markings are a little better than JR, and his has this cool black diamond on the top of his head. Jr had a big black spot on his sides, where Jay is all white, with a little black spot on his rear, both are rough coats.

Jay is very friendly and very affectionate to all people he meets, and to all dogs. He does not have a mean bone in his body.

He is getting along great with the dog pack, he loves bee bee, old max and jake, and abbey is cutting him slack, but twice she has charged and nipped him, just to let him know, who the fookin boss bitch is in this pack. He is accepting his place in the pack. On the bottom. The other 4 dogs will help to show him how to act, like a dog.

Jay has potential that is enormous. I just don't know, if I have one more professor Doolittle Elisa left in me. The amount of time you have to put in to pull this off, is enormous.

I am training him with little chunks of fried chiken livers and meatloaf. After living on dry dog food, he will turn somersaults for that shit. Dogs love, good meatloaf. He gets some of that on a fork because its soft for some tricks where he stands on his back legs and turns in a circle. The livers are hard firm chunks I can put on top of his nose, for him to flip up in the air and catch. He is so fast, the human eye cannot see it vanish. It's there, its gone.

Right now, Jay is driving me nuts, even though we are making beautiful progress, then one day, he will get it, the light bulb will go on, and when it does, Yo Baby.

I just won't give up on a dog. When I genetically engineered and produced Max, from a baby, he grew up he ate our house. It was brutal, ate the corners off all the chairs and tables, ate hunks out of the divans, and Yo Sarah finally laid it down saying, that's it, either that fookin dog goes, or I do. That was 15 years ago, and I said, honey, its been a great 10 years we have been married, but I choose the fookin dog, I'll help you pack your bags. I won my bluff, she did not leave, and when Max turned one, he stopped as was a perfect dog for the next 14 years. When dogs go through that puppy phase and their teenage years, anything goes. And that is where Jay is now, but soon to come out of it and go into young adult dog status.

Larry,

Beautiful, simply beautiful, update on wonder dog II. I printed it color so I can take it to my 89 year old aunt to read and see the pictures of Jay. She is as much of an animal lover as you and I are. I'm sure she will injoy your post as much as I did.

He's out of a cold cage laying on cold cement during the day and now sleeping in my heated water bed with a little hottie female Jack his own age. He gets the high tech hard dog food, with soft mixed in, laps from a bowl of milk, and is getting tossed boo coo fried chicken livers and meat loaf to get him to perform tricks. He has an acre of land to run on, and is now a part of a real dog pack with 5 real dogs. And he has, Yo Sarah and I, to love him, pet and hold him. He's been to the groomers and gets a bath now in my warm tub, which he loves. He never had a hair dryer put on him before, and he goes totally crazy with fear, so I do it for a few seconds, to try and introduce it to him, then towel dry him.

He has a chip.

He gets out now and then by running past you at the front door, but he does not go anywhere, just trots across the street to see the Boxer next door, and I can walk right up to him and pick him up. If Bee Bee gets out, she runs up and down the block for a hour until she wears her self out, barking at all the other dogs and cats, and runs from you and she can not be caught.

I see Jacks as hoodlums, they sort of have a criminal mentality, they are always planning to get into something, and you always have to be thinking ahead of them, anticipating what they will do. This can be a problem for many, because Jacks are smarter than most people I know. But I only know pool people, and they are dumb as moon rocks.

He also does not hunt, or has not figured it out yet. Jr was chasing chipmunks and squirrels all day long.

This is the dream of every orphan, to get lucky, and have their ship come in. Jay must think, he's died and gone to dog heaven.

Some other members of the cast. Jake the Wonder Dog is so feeble, I do not want to pick him up. He is going to go, any day, 15 yrs old.

The bigger dark brown brindle dog is Abbey, East Tennessee Mountain cur, female, 55 lbs.
We also call her, Big Bertha, the Evil witch bitch, and pig dog. She has not missed any meals, and hogs most of the evening scraps off our plates. She is the boss bitch of the pack, totally in charge, and if you don't do what you like, she kicks yo ass. She will bitch slap you around, bout once a week, just to keep you in line. When I am at my desk, I take my shoes off, and she sleeps on my feet. She sleeps at the foot of our king sized bed. She acts just like a Jack. She is about 8 or 9, badly over weight and slowing down a lot. Abbey walks around with permanent pms and an attitude.

The other Jack is bee bee, female, 2 yrs old, 15 lbs, who is a Parsons Russell, Jay is 18 lbs and a Jack Russell male. This is Yo Sarah's bee bee, sleeps between her legs under the covers at night. Smooth hair, feels like silk. Sweetest little dog on Earth, has never bitten anything.

Last is the 125 lb Max, 14 yrs old. who also is about to go, any minute.

Jay is helping. He gets up on the bed with me at night, when I watch a movie, sticks a toy dog in my face, so I will play tug with him and this goes on non stop for 2 hrs. I hang on, he tugs. Nobody can wear him out, he has no off button. I do not believe in this tug playing because I think it brings out an aggressive thing in them, and Jacks, are already way too aggressive. The rescue lady liked to do that with him and got it going, and he begs to do it, and he won't say no, so I caved in. Last night he finally bonded with me. He had been banned out of the bed for the last 4 days for peeing on it. He cuddled up to me and laid on my leg all night long. Also, he finally slept all night long, so we seem to be wearing him down and out.

He has a problem, a sad one, something bad must have happened to him. He will be sound asleep, I may start petting him, or lay my hand on his back or side, he wakes up and feels something touching him, and he goes beserk. He jumps up and charges my hand growling, then sees its me, and stops. Sometimes he has even grabbed my hand lightly, but never bite me where it hurt. I pop him on the nose saying bad dog, then he crawls up on my chest and licks my chin. I would guess, in time, when he has more trust in me, and his safety in the bed, this should go away.

When you bring in any rescue dog, they all come in with some bad baggage and history, you have to work with. Many have some prior abuse situation that traumatized them.

THERE ARE NO BAD DOGS, THERE ARE ONLY BAD FOOKIN PEOPLE.

Amen to that! Our rescue dog, Lily, is an American Border Collie - Springer Spaniel mix. A ton of energy, she came with some baggage and we worked through it. (That means she has us properly trained now.) I couldn't/wouldn't give her up now for the world.

Glad to see you get another dog. Best of luck.

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner. Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the vote.

I see you understand, when Jay bonded with me, he figured he had me under control, and just where he wanted me to be.

Jay, WD II, has totally bonded with me and is sleeping next to me at night, travels around town in my car in my lap, he has taken the place of Jr. He is a better dog, than Jr. I did not think, I could love any thing as deep as Jr, but I can see this will happen with him. I am a very lucky man to have found him.
