You are absolutely right, Larry. When I bought the cloth to recover my table, it came in a package together with a box of these balls and other accessories. The box looks identical to an Aramith set, however they are made in China. They look fantastic, they look very nice, but they aren't the real thing, and I suppose that they are not good at all.
By the way, can someone explain what is the difference between a good set of billiard balls and a cheap one? Obviously one should be durability, but I wonder if they also act different, roll in a different way, etc.

It has to do with tolerances. How spherical is spherical, how uniform is the density, how much impact resistance is in the surface, how much surface friction is in the outer layer. . . .
I have a set of cheap balls I was given. The 7 ball rolls like one of the "crazy cue" balls it is so poorly balanced. According to Aramith (Sulac) the things you should look for are: density, balance, diameter, roundness, color, glossiness, hardness and weight.
