In the Power Source Pool School our teaching concept is;

Perfect practice produces a pure perfect performance.

To be the pool player you dream of you first must learn to be that complete player. You must have proper preparation. You must mental prepare before any contest. You must be spiritually prepared, at peace with your wife, children and everyone around you. Your mind must be clear and calm with no inner turmoil. What ever it takes to achieve that you must do. If your old lady is driving you nuts right before the city championship, check in a motel for 2 days and don’t tell her where you went and calm your mind. I always arrive at a tournament a couple days ahead of time. I unpack, get used to my new surroundings, and have plenty of time to practice and rest up after the trip in. A fool comes rushing in barely arriving in time to sign up and begin play.

Pool greatness has a price and that price is you busting your butt and putting in all the extra effort you can think of. You need to double up and do the drills you dislike. You need to double your practice time. You need to get to the gym and work out. You must now train your mind and your body to get ready to win. You work up to each event like this.

No matter what you did in the past to prepare, now triple it. Get serious about winning. Begin to jog, a pool player needs strong legs, do sit ups, push ups, get in shape. If you dogged the 8 ball on a reasonable shot last night then today set the shot up again the next day and shoot it 100 times. If you are still missing it, shoot it 500 more times. On each pot you say, shot, I own you; I shall never ever miss you ever again. Find a gym with a pool. Swimming is the best exercise a pool player can do.

Having the proper Mental Edge will be the difference between you winning or you losing. Once you master the basics and the patterns, pool at the top is won or lost in the 6” between the ears and it all becomes 90% mental.
The secret to perfect Golf or pool is visualization which is seeing your self play from a distance and playing perfect shots which you dream about doing. You must make this an exact thing so when you go to bed at night you see your self breaking and running out perfectly over and over until sleep over comes you.

In your game, you walk up to the shot, see your self stroke, pot perfectly and see the cue ball go 3 rails to a perfect angle on the next ball. You fed your cpu the pattern for it to copy and immolate, now drop down and shoot it by that same feel and image.

In your dreams you must see you’re self over coming, coming back, stringing racks and running out to victory. You must see your hands on the tin up and see it going up over your head. You must want it, feel you deserve it, relish in the warmth of your great victory. You now feel the cheers and applause of the audience and the hand shakes from the fans.
Select and watch videos of perfect performances and run outs to back up to your cpu this can be done and is being done by others and there is no reason you cannot do this as well.
You only see you winning and must not have or harbor any negative thoughts of missing or losing. Have no doubts about winning; only see you’re self actually doing it. Crush any negative thoughts that come in.

If you are a league 8 ball player the 8 is your game ball. Every one chokes on the 8 ball and it’s a dark and difficult ball to pot. Let it roll over and there are no markings to aim from. I bought 15 all black 8 balls. I rack them up, break and shoot nothing but seven 8 balls. One of them is different slightly and that is my game ball. I say, I love shooting the 8 ball, I never miss the 8 ball, and I never choke on the money ball. I reinforce this, over and over and brain washes my self with this until my cpu accepts and believes this to be true.

You need to understand that just tossing out balls and banging around goes only so far and then you plateau at a mid level and never rise above there. You must learn how to practice perfect where you do not waste your time. Your time you spend has a plan, purpose and a reward at the end, perfect play and winning. Drills are always a part of these plans.
There are so many levels and concepts of this I spend an entire 8 hr all day lesson teaching this to you. I cannot teach this in a simple short article. It would be an entire 2 hour DVD which I do plan to do one day. So find yourself a top teaching pro and have that coach put you on a practice plan and then see success arrive shortly.

Some tap into the power of the Lord for extra strength and help. Without god, we are weak and will be a ship with out a rudder through our lives. We need to feel he will help us make our goals and accomplishments. Prayer to do our best is a just prayer. Some have never felt their full potential of the great player inside them they dreamed to come out until they put their games in the hands of the Lord. Feel the power of the Lord and play in peace and know if you have love in your heart you are calm and are blessed.

Ask for his love and ask him for extra strength and courage to take into your battle today. You must be prepared to play on a level you never dreamed possible and get out of the way of your own body and allow that to flow and occur. If you don’t push for that, seek that, it cannot happen. Put your trust in Jesus and just go out and give it all you can and then win, win, win.
You must be prepared, to pay the price, for success. If you want it to just drop on you because you bang balls around knock knock McFly, it aint gonna happen. Practice long and hard with a coach and work the plan, live the plan and then just go out and do it, do them and let the good times roll.

The more knowledge a player possesses, the more power he acquires. The more shots he knows, the more chances he has to get out on you. The more he knows, the more confident he becomes. The more confident he becomes turns him into a champion and a winner.
A beginner in pool is like a golfer playing 18 holes with just one club. I can easily defeat Tiger Woods with my 14 clubs if I make him play with just 1 club. I have many options and shots, he only has a few. When I graduate a student, he has 30 clubs. His quiver is full of many arrows to shoot. There is no shot he does not know about and cannot produce.
The better players are defeating you because they simply know more than you and have greater experience. You are in the 3rd grade, the best players beating you just graduated from College and are about to begin their MBA’s. You can cut this distance down between you two fast with a good coach, study, practice and hard work. It won’t happen by you just beating balls around. It will only happen if you acquire knowledge by expanding your repertoire of shots.

Everything around you is constantly changing. That is why you experience pain, there is loss. If you do not wish pain of the heart then do not seek love or attachments. The longer you live, the more you lose. To love, means to suffer pain. For some who are lucky in love, they experience more love than pain. Others are not so lucky.

The only other option is to reject worldly possessions, passions, all family ties and live as a monk or priest and seek purity and enlightenment. There can be love in that quest.

Those are the only two paths to happiness. The third one is to become a predator who only takes, who gives no love, and only leaves sorrow in his path. That is the path to hell. When your judgment day comes and your book is read, it is empty of love and that condemns your soul. To free yourself of life's passions and possessions is where total freedom lies. It then puts you on the path of enlightenment which the only way to pure peace in your heart.

God gave us 12 year old Scotch, and a hard Willie with a mission, which IMHO, is total proof he loves us and wishes us to have a good time. Be happy in your work. You determine in your own mind if you are happy or unhappy. Just will yourself to be happy, and you then are so.

If you can dream it, see it, believe it, you can be it and perform totally out of the box. Then you are a person with no limits who can achieve anything he can imagine that a human body is capable of producing. “FL”

Handle every stressful situation like a dog, pee on it and walk away. Learn not to put up with Turkeys or to take she-yit off anyone. A dog will not play a losing game. Put them in one where they cannot win and they like a little 4 year old child, will simply pick up their toys, quit and walk away. But adults allow their selves to be put in traps and cages where they cannot win in life or love and condemn their selves to unhappiness. They do not realize they have the key to their cell and only them, can set their selves free. You just get out the back Jack, make a new plan Stan, and set yourself free.

In life, or in sports, when you are losing, do something. Change the plan of combat or your attack. Become more defensive, try and throw off the other person. Do something drastic, you might get lucky and then win. If you don’t do something you are doomed to lose.

If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, then it is yours forever. If it does not come back, then hunt the SOB down and kill it. If you can’t find it and it got away, and it doesn’t come back, that means it was never yours to begin with and it was smarter than you and wise enough to get away from you. But if it is now sitting in your living room, messes up your stuff, eats all your food to the point you had to put a lock on the fridge, uses your money and telephone, and does not appear to realize you have set it free, and it has tattoos and rings in its nose and spike purple hair, or it has thunder thighs and saggy tits, then you either gave birth to it, or you married it. Cut off the food and cancel the cell phones, maybe it will then leave.

Rack em sausage, Go play fast and loose. Ride em hard, put em up wet, leave the ladies smiling. Live free, die well with your boots on owing no man nothing. May you be in heaven an hour before the devil knows you’re dead. In time, it’s all dust in the wind anyway. Don’t take yourself, or anything too serious, just be happy and healthy. Laughter, good whiskey and song are the best medicine. If you have a library, a garden, a good woman and a barrel of Scotch, 4 to 6 good dogs, you have all you need. People ask FL, what is the secret of your longevity, living 3 lifetimes in one, being in the fast lane all your life, you should have been dead at 50. Now you are 107 years old and still out hitting 11 rail banks, running racks, chasin hotties and driving a 5 speed red sports car. He got a speeding ticket for going 140mph. They don’t call him Fast for nuttin.

He said, it’s very cold, very old scotch and very young and very hot women. Keep your life filled with both of these and you will live forever. You won’t want to die, because you are having too much fun. When you turn 19, stay right there for the next 10 years, mentally refuse to age or change. When you turn 29, and then hang on to 29 for the rest of your life. I have, and all my kids are older than me and soon my grandkids will be older than me as well. The Grandkids are the only ones who understand me, because mentally we are on the same scale. Never act your age, unless its 19 or 29.

I play pool the same way I make love, Fast and Loose. Nobody yet has asked for a refund. Do catch my show and take a lesson because soon I will be gone and then it’s too late. You will find I am either your greatest friend you ever had, or your greatest enemy. I am prepared to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting and dealing with me again is another matter. This is why he is keeping me down here so long. I always figured I would die young and leave a good looking corpse. I almost did die 8 times, but somehow cheated death like the black cat. If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself. I would rather die while I am living, than live while I am dead as most old people do.

I am just a simple teacher. All that I now know now: is that I now know nothing. I am nothing but a good ball banger who teaches a good lesson and puts on a good trick shot show and plays a decent game, these are the only three things I do well in pool. I know a lot about pool because I have played all over the world for a half century and met all the great stars. I have read every book written since 1827, this is how I acquired so much knowledge. Knowledge is worthless until you learn how to sort out the bad and keep only the good things that work. That takes time and a decade of experimentation and testing, which I put in.
