I was practicing nine ball a few minutes ago, and I killed an easy run out, and said man that's a deadly sin.

So what I want us to do, is add any run out killers you can think of to this list. Once we get them all, we will rate them to give us our top ten. Remember at first they are not in any special order. Maybe somehow we can find a way to prevent them.
Nothing is too dumb, I guarantee you, we have all been there. Here is the deadly run out sin I made.

Left the cue ball frozen on the rail

Oh absolutely, its all about, angle to angle, and holding them, then you play with center ball and its all simple. Thanks for coming back in, we have missed you.

Yes indeed, glad to see you posting Bern.

I would add: trying too hard to get perfect shape for an easy shot. Sometimes you are better off to take what the table gives you.

And you play fookin perfect, fast and loose and you come up to that ball before the last one, or to game ball, and you tighten up, you stop and call a time out, you light a cig, you begin to pace and walk in circles, you belt down a little slug of courage, and dude, you just triple fooked yo self. You are now gonna choke that bad boy so bad because you did not just keep rolling with out thinking.

When you tighten up your grip pressure, you are toast.

HAVE NO FEAR OF LOSING.

This one gets me a lot. Too much focus on shape, get the shape, but miss the damn ball.

I'll add a sin:

Not listening to the signals that you are not on the shot, and trying to force it. Better to stand up, take another look and refocus, and come down into the shot again.

Hi Demondrew yeah still at Plush, just got the passport thing sorted out so I can visit your fair country again. Hopefully Monday. How is the straight pool going.

And yes bumping balls when there is no need can bring no good.

Not staying in the moment. Thinking about shooting a dead, four nine combination when you are shooting the three and miss.
Or be way ahead in your match, and start thinking about the easy match you will have next, and you will be in the money. But then you hang a nine, he makes it, he breaks, nine ball on the snap, and all of the sudden, the zone is gone and you are fighting for your life.

I've got the deadliest sin of them all. Allowing yourself to get out of practice by not playing for over a year.

Here are the run out killers in the order they were posted. Grade them 1 through 11, with 1 being the most common thing that stops your run outs. They will all be a little different. Then we will add them up. Just reply, and change the numbers by the effect they have on you.

11 Leaving the cue ball frozen on the rail.

2 Thinking, choking, fear of losing.

1 Getting straight in, not having an angle.

5 Trying too hard to get perfect shape for an easy shot.

3 Tighten up your grip pressure, you are toast.

4 Going into balls when you don't have to.

7 Too much focus on shape, get the shape, but miss the damn ball.

8 Not listening to the signals that you are not on the shot, and trying to force it.

9 Not staying in the moment.

6 Allowing yourself to get out of practice.

10 The worst sin, doggin the money ball.

This is my order, although there are a few I could switch around. They are all killers.

5 Trying too hard to get perfect shape for an easy shot.

7 Too much focus on shape, get the shape, but miss the damn ball.

4 Going into balls when you don't have to.

11 Leaving the cue ball frozen on the rail.

2 Thinking, choking, fear of losing.

1 Getting straight in, not having an angle.

8 Not listening to the signals that you are not on the shot, and trying to force it.

9 Not staying in the moment.

3 Tighten up your grip pressure, you are toast.

10 The worst sin, doggin the money ball.

6 Allowing yourself to get out of practice.

DD, I agree, I could have switched several. I also thought of others while I was rating them, but eleven was depressing enough. (lol)

I think you all have done a wonderful job here, a great service, and I know you all spent a lot of time thinking about this.

That said, lets move on.

This is great, but its focus is negative. You have to take each one of these now, and develop a plan on how to solve each one, or eliminate them, or get them under control. You now move into positive thinking, how to win, where before, it was all on how you lost and sold out.
