I've not played for a week or so. Been moving house, busy at work, generally lots on.
I played today and found that I was way off my game.
Specifically, I found that my stroke was off - not smooth at all. However, when I set up, pulled the cue back a short way, and pushed my cue through the ball with a short-mid length follow thru, I could still be very accurate.
So, what's the value of a proper stroke? It would help with power shots and english, but I could manage mid power and a reasonable draw with my compact, ugly stroke.
Would it be better to play like this? Say, just on the shots that didn't require the power or firm follow thru for big draw or english?
(And if my idea's a bad one, how to you build/train a stroke that will work well from the first shot?)
