The Golf Bucket list
I am reading a golf magazine at the Dentist office while waiting and they have the 18 great things you would try and do in your golfing life. Playing all the big name courses was part of it. I was amazed that I had done 17 of the 18.
Then was not surprised as I have had a half century to get it done, unlimited time, money and travel paid for by my company. If I had worked a normal job stuck in one place, and paid for my travel and golf, I would not have gotten very deep into the list.
Playing Augusta National and Cypress Point were the highlights of my golfing life. The Old Course in St Andrews made my top 10, but I would rather play in Hawaii.
The only one I did not have, and I can see I now never will, is shooting my age. That one is a bitch and about your best shot is to shoot 67 when you are 67, and every year past there, it gets more impossible. 72 when you are 72. But when your 72, breaking 80 would be fantastic. Few will ever do this one. Maybe if I had not broken my back in the plane crash I might have done it. Now my back is falling apart and that dream is gone. I can’t beat my meat now. When I hit the first tee, the alarm goes off and all the gophers go into hibernation for the day.

17 out of 18, I can live with not having them all. When the haul me off to the nursing home, I’ll have all those old golfing memories to keep me happy. Man do I have a ton of memories. Being on the road full time since the 60’s, I have lived 2 or 3 lifetimes more than the average man. My odometer has turned over twice. I always said, it’s not the years that count, it’s the mileage you put on that does.

I saw this one: I have done them all. Don't make your bucket list, impossible. The idea is to complet it before you kick the bucket, and then start a new list.
• Play Golf at St. Andrews (pre-requisite: Be good enough to play at St. Andrews)
• Play Golf in North Scotland (done - played on the Championship course at the Royal Dornoch)
• Go to the Masters. On Sunday
• Support myself entirely off a business I started
• Eliminate and never return to debt
• See life in an impoverished nation
• Visit the Grand Canyon
• Visit Sedona - see Horseshoe bend and Antelope Canyon
• Appreciate every day the beauty of life
