Besides not bringing your schon to a bar would you ever bring a high end cue to a hangout spot? Unless I am playing on a tight pocket table I would never use a thin tapered shaft. I am just sticking to a cheapie jump break cue that I play with everywhere.

Do you guys use different cues for different tables?
When you are riding it
home, can see the finish line, don't spit da bit, begin beating the ass
with your riding whip and yell out like Tarzan, who's yo daddy. When
she screams FL, don't take it too hard, life goes on.

I have a playing friend who has two identical shafts with different tips. He uses the one with the harder tip for 9-ball, and uses the more medium tip for 14.1 and 8-ball. Therefore, supporting the notion of different game==different tip (approximately == different cue).

I suspect if you played on a large (9*4.5) table with fast felt (S 760) that it might require/like a different "hit" from the cue than when playing on a short (7*3.5) with slow felt (and a heavy cue ball).

I take my medium-end cue everywhere.

Morro Ismael Piez would mess with his weight bolts and switch cues during a set, or even a game.
