PUT YOUR CAR KEYS BESIDE YOUR BED AT NIGHT

Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents your Dr's office, the check-out girl at the market, everyone you run across.

Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. If somebody is messing with my car in the driveway, then one of the dogs is going to go off, he is going to set off one of the outdoor sensors and turn on 4 floodlights on himself, and when I see that, I will set off the car alarm and that guy is running out of my yard. The last thing I want to do is slip out there with a gun. There could be 2 or 3 of them and I could be outgunned. If you shoot somebody breaking into your car, you will probably go to jail for a long time. Staying inside is always the smart thing to do. Only if he breaks into your house, can you then safely shoot the scum bag and get by with it.

Out on the road you stay in strange places in motels and you do not always know how safe the area is. You do not want somebody breaking in your room when you are alsleep. I always stay in motels in down and out rooms. My car is parked right in front of my room and I like places that have outside doors that open up to the parking lot. If I need something out of the car I can get at it fast.

You can't keep somebody from breaking in if they are good, but I will hear them and be out of bed to defend myself. Laying down I am defenseless. Sitting up I can defend. I only need a few seconds advance warning. I am a light sleeper. Beside my bed, next to my phone is my gun and my car keys. I grab my gun first and pull back the hammer, and depending on the situation, I could grab my keys and set off the car alarm, which would blare right into the room. I could hit a 2nd button and the lights on the car would turn on and shine in the sliding glass door. Most of this will scare the intruder off without a fight which is what you want. On the door handle on the door coming in the room from the hall I put a wedge under the door, so if it opens it sets off an alarm. On the sliding glass door, which they usually prefer to break into I set something up on it so if it moves it falls off with a loud thud and wakes me up. I can now sleep in peace, knowing you cant sneak up on me, and if you break in my gun will be in my hand in seconds.

This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this:

It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar rapist won't stick around... After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that.

And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there .....Have your thumb over the red panic button and if somebody tries to jump you, set it off and then try and fight them off. Just running is a great defense.
This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.

P.S. Would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone. My Mom has suggested to my Dad that he carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn't hear him. He can activate the car alarm and then she'll know there's a problem.

You forgot where you parked your car, begin hitting the button and aiming it in different directions, if you are close, you will then follow the honks and turn it off.

Please pass this on even IF you've read it before.
It's a reminder and it might save your life.
