RUSSIAN ARTIC WEED
It grows on the northern steppes and in Siberia. For centuries they have been claiming it will help you live to 100 and love every year. Can it make you 88% smarter in 24 hours? It is such an energy booster Russians feed it to their cosmonauts and athletes. It dwarfs what Ginseng does. It lifts your feel good brain chemical serotonin by 30%, which is what Prozac does with a string of nasty side-effects. It will help you lose weight. It will enhance your sexual drive. Those are the wild claims? Check it out?
If you go into a supplement store (such as GNC) and look for "Rhodiola Rosea," you'll have found "Arctic Weed." Some studies have shown it increases mental alertness, among other things. Ginseng is another such supplement, but said to be slightly less effective than the Rhodiola capsules.
Rhodiola Rosea has been referred to as Russian Artic Weed, but not as commonly as it has also been called Golden Root presumably because of its amazing health support benefits. The term Artic weed may have arisen from the fact that it grows in artic areas Siberia) and is therefore a hardy botanical. This is also perhaps why it provides the adaptogenic (nourishes and supports adrenals - the term coined by the Russian scientist Dr. Nicolai Lazarev who discovered adaptogen herbs,) properties that it does. There are 20 species of Rhodiola and some claim that the Siberian or Russian is the best, however if it is Rhodiola rosea and standardized to at least 3%, of rosavin, then you are more than likely getting the best species. If the Russian Artic Weed you refer to has been standardized as such, it is probably the same herb being called by a different name. This is one way that you can ascertain if they are equivalent or the same as there have been different herbs that have been called by the same common name. As for the Russian Artic Weed, the only that I have found that it refers to is the Rhodiola Rosea. This herb is primarily for reducing stress and thus has some support for enhancing mental concentration; however, if that is the main concern, there are other herbs that provide more support. such as Gotu kola, Ginko biloba, Chinese Club moss (Huperzine A) and Vinpocetine (vinca). I hope that this helped.
