I want to buy a new breaking cue, but I'm not sure what is a good brand? I have a Cuetec but its Crap.

What brands do you prefer?

Also what is a good tip for my non breaking Cue?

I use a Falcon Jump/Break cue with a Talisman XX Hard tip on it. It breaks like a canon after I put that tip and a new phenolic ferrule on it.

I am really liking Talisman tips now for my playing cue. I used to use Moori tips, but the Talismans are equal in quality and less than half the price.

Short and sweet - use the cuetec as a break cue!

Fast Larry is the house pro here and he would be more qualified to tell you if you need a break cue. Since I want to extend the lifespan of the simonis 860 on my table I refrain from using the hard break (plus I play lots of 14.1), in short, breaking is something I don't practice.

And to further complicate my response, I'm thinking of having Paul Dayton build me a break cue.

But isn't the break cue just ego? Can't your cuetec (which you describe as crummy) work just fine as a break cue? The break isn't just to hit really hard in the direction of the pack, it's more a controlled shot aimed at a specific point on the eye spot.

The Woim understands the desire to buy a cue - and if you want a break cue then please get the one you want. If you are short of funds, just keep the cuetec. It will save you some money.

There are dozens of nice production break cues priced at $99-$300 and there is a large selection of custom break cues priced at $300 and up, sometimes way up but for a break cue that would be crazy, unless of course your into that kind of spending spree... LOL!

Either way, keep us posted on what decision you make.

Yours truly,
The Woim

Well see the cue stick tip is really cheap that they put on it, so I’m really looking for a new tip. I found that talisman xx will be the best bet for me. I really don’t need a new breaking cue; I just honestly don’t like how it looks with my Myucci. So I'm looking for more of a comparison for style.

What playing cue do you use? Is the Cuetec your playing cue?

Are you on active duty in South Korea? If so, where are you stationed?

Yours truly,

Hi, I bought at least four J&J Break/Jump Cues from Erik Lee. They are great! My friends rave about them. Here's the link:
http://www.erikleecues.com/index2.html

Sometimes he even includes JP's w/ them. Oh yeah...their quick release, a time saving plus!! B)

Now...tips...If you own a Predator or OB1 shaft you need a Moori or Tiger tip. Just a McDermott or Viking etc. well...I put a LePro medium on my McDermotts. Just love them...grabs the chalk really well.
