DIRECTING YOUR MOVIE
Now that you have scouted and negotiated with the locals it is time to direct your movie. As the director you need to develop a clear picture in your head of what exactly you want the shot to look like. The details need to be precise, you need to be able to see it, to smell it, hear it and feel it and watch it on the movie screen of your mind.
The clearer the image in your mind, the easier it will be to convey it to the actors (your body) and the better the finished result will be. These pictures in your head will direct your actors better than words ever could and the outcome will be much more pleasurable.
Every situation will require differing amounts of time to set up direction, some you will see and visualize quickly, with minimal direction time, while others you will have to think more about the direction and the time will be longer.
So remember to scout and negotiate and then direct and act and your movies will become award worthy.

Sweet. I get to star in my own movie
The problem that I run into and need to work on is that... sometimes when I get on a roll I might rush a shot and my position becomes way off. Chances are the place I was trying to get to was not in my imagined in my head and I couldn't see it when I was shooting (a draw shot, for example).
If the movie comes out the way I filmed it, then it's a good feeling for sure. I need more experience directing...

Your right Joe, and when you think about it your favorite movie just wouldn't be the same if they had rushed through the scene.
Just focus on what exactly you want to happen, the more often you do this the more of a habit it will become and the better you will get at directing.
