Heh, how long has this been here?

Seems to have cropped up just too late for me, as for me the discussion / learning about the mental game is currently on one side while I let the techniques set in and develop.

Still, if anyone else is considering working on the mental game, I can vouch for the benefits it can bring.
That said, I think you'll need to be quite committed to working on it, and working through any problems that arise.

Fast (if you see this), maybe this forum could be a good place to discuss dealing with chokerightis? I wouldn't mind learning some of the techniques, in particular, how to cope when chocking, and produce the best game you can in the circumstance.
Or should I bring it up again in your forum?

I was planning to report back on how I've overcome the problems with mental control from a left-brainer soon too, but I wanted to make sure the techniques are more solidly in place before I do - I've mistakenly thought I had everything right at a couple of stages in the past...

Hi,

This forum was not here last night at about 10pm when I checked, so I assume that it was put up during the night or early am.

I am not sure what FL would say about choking, but perhaps that would be another good topic here. LOL.

I am sure that FL has ideas about that, but perhaps others like Craig have insights about how they have conquered this 'demon'.

Hi all,

Chokeritis is a difficult problem to diagnose and correct. The best way I have found to beat chokeritis is to take my time. Don't be afraid to stand back up from a shot and reset yourself. Take a couple of deep breaths and let your mind and body relax.

The only other way to beat chokeritis that I know of is to not let it creep in in the first place. Have the confidence to know that every ball falls in the pockets the same way and that the only person that can mentally defeat me is me. The other guy can try every trick in the book, but if I don't let him get to me he won't succeed. It is totally on me to control and handle. Yes, I do want to win and do know that there is always the possibility of losing. But this is NOT what controls and drives me. I control and drive me to the ends that I want and see for myself. Have the confidence to control yourself. Just imagine yourself being so cool at the table that you can keep a six pack cold just by holding it. Nothing bothers you. Nothing gets under your sking. There is no pressure, there is only the table and you making ball after ball after ball.

Be one with the shot...

That is a good mantra. We need to get shirts made up!
