What do people think of these?

I remember watching the WPBA play with them for a long time. I just bought a set off of eBay, and I like them a lot. They are probably not the BEST balls out there and I know that they are not phenolic resin, but they feel nice and solid, have good fluid hits and they are definitely a conversation piece and fun to play with for a change.

I do have a set also of Brunswick Heritage balls that I have had forever and play with daily.
:-) :-( :-D ;-) :-o 8-) :-? :-P :-x

They are total Chinese crap. Lets the kids or bangers play with them and buy a good set of real pro balls for your personal use.

They only played with them on TV because they paid them to. They had no choice. When they were first introduced at the BCA show Allison and I were entertaining in the same booth and she was playing with them. I came on when she was done and took them off and put my personal set of Rashigs out and the guy is telling me I have to use them. I am going, I don't do shows with nothing but my personal set. Well she can play with them. I went, so can I just hitting straight in shots, but trick shots need balls that throw and perform and I would not use that junk. He was not too happy about that. I really did not care. About the worst balls I ever saw. Too bad I was the only one who had the guts to stand up to them, every one else rolled over for the money like the round heeled ho's they are.

Notwithstanding the lousy playing characteristics, The Woim finds those balls to be an affront to my sensibilities!

My favorite balls, cosmetically speaking, are the Brunswick Centennials. At home I play with Aramith Super Pro's.

I use the elephant practice balls on the lag drill, they are OK. Those marble balls are for kids and never for serious pool.

Yes, Brunswick never made balls. From the 30's when they made the dart clay balls, up into the 1945 era when the first Centinneals came out, to make their 100th year anniversary, they were made by the Albany ball company of NY.

When they went out of business Saluct took it over. That is their name, not aramith. That is the brand name.

I originally bought the Aramith Super Pro's but after I got them home I elected to spend the extra money for the Centennials. I just like the half diamond on each side of the number. I know they are basically the same ball. I did take FL advice and bought the measles cue ball. I bought the TV balls and I am still not real impressed with the color. It is kind of hard to get used to. I just thought it would be neat, now kind of mixed emotions on that hype.

Since only Fast Larry is a pro, the rest of us could bang away at any set of balls we want. But The Woim thinks we should have more respect for the game.

Oh yes, I know that the Aramith Super Pro and the Brunswick Centennial balls are produced by the same people.

The Woim plans on buying a set of Centennials, but then put them aside strictly for 14.1. The Aramith Super Pro's would be for skill drills, just banging balls, and games with the kids. The Super Pro's would be left out on the table all day long while my Centennials were kept upstairs in the closet - set apart - for when I play straight solo or with my eldest son.

What I believe, is that each game has its characteristics and should be respected. That's why The Woim has another custom cue on order, the Dayton cue will be used for 14.1 while the other will be when I'm practicing, playing or in a game with my either of my sons.

This attitude has rubbed off on my son, who has a cue which should be ready this Thursday. He's stopped playing with the house cues and is waiting until his cue arrives so he can resume playing this game we all love so much.

Which reminds me - I really should get those Elephant balls for Sudden Death Seven Ball.

No no no, do not buy these cheap ass Chinese balls. They are too light, too small, get out of round, they are awful. Some of these sets are not even 6 oz, but 4 l/2 oz. All are undersized and not the proper weight. If you want a really nice set as good as any ball made, for a good price, go into my web site and see the Diamond balls. If your kids want something pretty to play with buy them a sack of marbles.

Centinneals are fine, just throw away the blue circle CB which is a dog and replace it with the pokeadot pro cup ball I sell on my web site. www.billiards-superstore.com

They are no better than the super pro's, over priced simply because Brunswick puts their name on a box and charges you an extra $50 for the box you throw away or falls apart. I sell them at a competitive price.

Cruise Ebay, try and snag a set of 1-15 Rashigs. If you get lucky and get a set not worn out, you just found the ultimate set of balls. Anything under $200 is a steal. I own 3 sets, one I got off ebay was damn near brand new. They have not been made for 15 years. Playing with them becomes addictive because the balls click like the old ivory did. The CB in the set is great also. It has a small black dot on it like the old ivory balls did. All 15 balls have numbers on them.

They also made sets of just 9 balls without numbers. Everyone hated them. I have 2 sets of them I bought brand new when they were in business. One set I have never played with. Saluct bought them out and got them off the market. They did not want somebody making a ball twice as good as theirs. They were in West Germany and the ball box is blue. This is how you tell if the set is authentic.

On second thought, nix the idea.
