Back in 1989, I was in the Navy and stationed in the Philippines and I thought the Road Agent was a really great looking cue. At that time, I couldn't even name any custom cuemaker other than Balabushka and that was just parroting the name from the movie "The Color of Money". Nowadays, The Woim plays with a Paul Dayton C0012 purpleheart model and I have another custom cue on order - a less elaborate cue based on the Dayton design.

While reading some older threads here, The Woim came up with an idea that he wants to share with the rest of the group. In fact, I wish someone had told me this idea years ago!

Are any of you guys big fans of the Meucci design "Road Agent" or "Gambler"? If so, you don't have to waste your money on a new Meucci or scrounge through oodles and oodles of EBay ads. Just go to the Meucci website or some other pool site and print the photo you like then take it around to some custom cuemakers and see if they would do it for you.

The Woim can absolutely guarantee that either Paul Mottey or Dennis Searing would reproduce the design far superior to Bob Meucci. No disrespect intended to Mr. Meucci - his place in the history of pool is pretty secure.

The cost for a Mottey or Searing recreation of Road Agent would be between $2200-$4000 but the playability and collectability of the cue would be off the charts. If the Road Agent design is imbued upon your heart with an ironclad grip, you could take this route and have the cue of your dreams.

If a Mottey or Searing are too rich for your taste, The Woim's willing to bet that other cuemakers like D. Cousins, John Madden, Bill McDaniel, or others would be less expensive but not less in quality.

The design of Road Agent is great, but if you look closely at a Meucci buttsleeve Road Agent design, the handiwork is vastly inferior to the kind of work one of the cuemakers I've already listed would recreate.

Yours Truly,
The Woim

do you know any good cuemakers in california or nevada?
When you are riding it
home, can see the finish line, don't spit da bit, begin beating the ass
with your riding whip and yell out like Tarzan, who's yo daddy. When
she screams FL, don't take it too hard, life goes on.

Gian,

It's a fun thing to be able to visit a cuemaker's shop, but don't limit yourself either. Search around. Most custom cuemakers can help you over the phone - The Woim never stepped foot in Paul Dayton's shop yet I ordered one of his cues and even asked for specific changes and to strive for a specific feel/hit.

There's Jack Madden - www.johnmaddencues.com. You can go to this site now and see a very cool looking and available cue nr #JM1037.

There's Paul Dayton - www.daytoncues.com.

There's **** Neighbors - www.dickiecues.com

There's Mike Zimmerman (really inexpensive yet makes a nice cue) - www.zimsrack.com
- Mike Zimmerman's shop is in O'Fallon, IL and is just 2 miles away from The Woim's house. This guy is an former APA 6 and a current BCA instructor - an Air Force vet who is very fun to do business with. Very good playing cues - he doesn't do inlays yet.

There's legendary Tim Scruggs - www.timscruggs.com If you go to his website now, he has 2 or 3 avail cues!

Hope my info helps you in your search.

Yours Truly,
The Woim
