Hmm, interesting. I'll have to check it out. As much as I want to see the IPT succeed in a way, I hate Kevin Trudeau. I find him to be among the worst of the TV hucksters.

Archer vs. Strickland race to 15 sounds good though. I think I will have to call Archer to win. I hope the stream is good. Thanks for the info!

I've been noticing that ESPN isn't playing as much of the WPBA events as they used to. Too bad too, because it's getting exciting as Allison Fisher has some better competition now than in the past 10 years.

I would guess he is trying to keep his hand in, hoping some sucker will buy him out and he covers his loses. Rather than stage another multi million dollar tourney he loses his shirt on, this one would be a low cost affair compared to what he has done in the past.

If the match is straight, then Archer wins and Earl folds bad when the heat comes on and he falls behind. Why promote Earl was the question? Why did Tennis promote McEnroe? That is your answer.

As long as players can pick up on this... whatever gets people interested in pool is fine by me.

Truer words have never been spoken. That is exactly who Strickland is and always has been to the billiard world. I love and hate the guy all at once.

A single match between two big marquee players is a great way to promote pool!

IPT is copying the Action Challenge people. I hope both succeed.

Right, and I can't wait to see Earl get behind, then lose his cool, then blame it on everyone but him. Maybe he could bite Johnny's ear off, it worked for boxing.
Or hit him with a chair like in Wrestling.

All kidding aside, any pool, even bad pool, is better than no pool.

They are trying to peddle their web site to sell things and the match is just bait to get you in there.

They need to pay off all the players they owe before doing anything. Since they have not, everyone should boycott any of their activities.

It's here today. I would guess this is bait, to get your email and name and address, you get a match, then later have to upgrade and spend money to get the next one, or more. They get you in and hope you will buy things from them. It's all very smart, so far. I signed up, I play along and see where it goes.

Shooter has to take what they make on the break? Why'd they change this?

Oh well time to watch the match.

ARCHER BEATS STRICLAND!
Archer victorious in close match (15 to 12)
Chicago, IL - 12/19/07 - The International Pool Tour (IPT) held its first Challenge match between Earl "The Pearl" Strickland and Johnny "The Scorpion" Archer in the heart of downtown Chicago. Both players are well respected around the world as two of the greatest players to ever play the game. After more than 3 hours of grueling, hard fought and tense hours Johnny Archer emerged victoriously with a score of 15 to 12. Strickland, who was down by five games at one point, showed a valiant effort by pulling within 2 games of Archer before eventually losing the match. Archer walked away with $5,000 USD, courtesy of Kevin Trudeau (Founder, IPT), and a beautiful cruise for two provided by Incentives International, a company owned by IPT Pro Linda Carter.

The demand to watch this event was so high in the hour before the match that the IPT web servers became overloaded causing the web site to freeze up for several minutes. IPT technical staff were quick to respond with the contingency plan put in place to compensate for more-than-expected web traffic. Because the servers were being hit so hard, it took a while for the appropriate re-directs to initiate on the web site. Basic Members who signed up before the match were rushed a new link by email, and the re-directs were successfully operating just before the beginning of the live broadcast. IPT technical staff reported that roughly 85%-90% of the Basic Members who signed up to view the match were logged on and viewing the live stream in time for the beginning of the match. Within several minutes thereafter, the remainder of viewers were successfully viewing the stream. It will take a couple days to compile all of the web stats. However, the IPT servers are built for heavy traffic, so the number of visits it would take to slow or crash the servers is astronomical.

We are happy to announce that the match is already up in the Videos section of the IPT Web Site. The match will be streaming for free through the end of December, 2007. You can watch the video right now! The video is unedited right now and the begining of the video has some footage that was streaming before the broadcast officially began. In a few days, it will be edited down to the beginning of the official broadcast. This is your chance to catch some classic Mike Sigel moments before they disappear from the video file forever!

I tried to watch it last night. The video and audio were way out of sync and it keep freezing up. Was this just on my end or did anyone else have the same problem?
When I finally gave up Archer was ahead 9-5. I'll try it today when I get to the store and see if it works better on that 'puter.

Well, I already know who won...but I haven't seen it yet.

I am streaming it now.

BUT...

The greatest thing. Earl just could NOT contain his mouth, could he? In the opening interview he had to take a shot at Cuetec. He said "I played with Cuetec for 17 years, which DESTROYED my game..."

Ha ha ha. Ok, Earl. As someone else said, I really don't see Allison Fisher echoing the same sentiment, do you? Pathetic that he is blaming a make of cue.

When exactly did ya notice that your game was destroyed by the cue you were using Earl? 15 years ago? 10? 5? Last year? Two months ago? Didn't really bother him when he was picking up those endorsement checks, did it?

Wow.

Yep, he needs a manager who will stuff a sock in his pie hole and duck tape his jaws shut when he goes in public. I was told he had his old Meucci red dot shaft hidden under the coating all along. That's Earl, its never Earl, its always somebody else that does him in.
