Hello All,
I'm about to buy my first black dot shaft, which will probably be a simple Sneaky Pete from Meucci, the M1B model. I have a couple quick questions....
How does a que like this stand up to repeated hard break shots?
Since you are supposed to shoot with the black dot side up all the time to minimize deflection and maximize performance.....Is it natural to see the tip or ferrel (sp?) take unnecessary wear and tear from being hit in roughly the same position all the time.
Thanks for the help!!

FINE, IT BREAKS GOOD, BUT NO ONE RECOMMENDS YOU BREAK WITH YOUR PLAY CUE, IT HARDENS AND MAKES YOUR TIP FLAT. THE FERRULE IS THIN AND IS NOT DESIGNED TO BE A BREAK CUE. EVENTUALLY YOU WILL CRACK IT AND THEN GETTING ANYTHING REPAIRED OUT OF THERE CAN TAKE MONTHS.
You have to turn the black dot up each time and that is an un natural act which is a pain.
You will not see any wear in one place, on the cue or tip. Just shape your tip from time to time.
It is a low deflection shaft and a lot of people like them. Good luck with it.

I don't know if they have gotten any better at producing the black dots, however, I had 2 in the past that were both warped out of the box. I would recommend the red dot over the black any day of the week.

My Meucci black dot was fine for the first three or four months I had it. I then made the mistake of leaving it in the backseat of my car during a very hot day........it is now warped.
I'm not getting anything with the Meucci name on it again.

I don't think that's a fair assessment of thier products. Any cue will warp if left in the hot car except for maybe wood that was cured for a number of years.

I agree leftover, that was not the cue's fault.

This is also what Fast told me...uncured wood warps. Especially laminated ones with glue.
It still shoots ok, but I won't be using it much. I have a new GB9 from Fast....it's a friggin monster. I do have to get used to the 11.75mm shaft though.

Also, I don't know that I would break a lot with one of these shafts. I have broken maybe once with my meucci and wasn't impressed with the break I got with the cue. That aside, they have a rather weak ferrule which may break if left to repeated break shots.
