The points on gold crowns seem to me to be a little sharp and blip more balls out than do some other tables i play on. Is that correct? Or is there something else there?

Hi bigbopper, the facings on a gold crown are cut at the proper angle to allow balls to pocket when played in at a reasonable speed, balls that hit the points of a facing should bobble out on any well cut pocket.
The shelf depth of a pocket will also account for balls that bobble and hang up, the deeper the shelf is from the points to the pocket drop the more often balls will hang up if they are not played perfectly into the pocket or are played with to much speed.
Thanks for the question please ask if there is anything else I can help you with.
