I'm curious as to what league (i.e. APA, BCA, etc.) most people play in or which league they think is better. I currently play APA 8-ball, and being my first league, I don't know if there are better options out there.

I like vnea. But any league play will help you improve. I play apa, bca, tap, and vnea. And I sub on all my teams so I really only play 1 or 2 matches a week. I play in leagues to gain access to all the league tournaments. They are all pretty much the same. The rules and rankings vary a little but the format is pretty constant.

Two more posts Drew and you then qualify to play in the give away contests when they resume. You have all year to get your other 80 in for the year end finale.

APA because it's all we have except for local leagues. I prefer the call pocket rule of BCA but you go with what is available. We have a county bar league but it is hardcore call everything about the shot type bar rules. I have seen fights start over whether or not your OB barely grazed another ball going in the pocket. It is so bad that if you are shooting down the rail and the OB is not frozen and it touches the rail more than 1 diamond before the pocket you have to call that. Idiots! I used to play it but got tired of the arguements.

Later, Pel

I prefer TAP. I also play in APA. I've been playing in the APA for about 7 years now, and I wrote a letter to APA Corp. since it's hard to get a hold of the LO. I wrote the letter to question some handicaps, and in return, they said I was a trouble maker, and they were thinking about kicking me out of the league. Now isn't that funny?

I agree the APA rating system is pretty well messed up. I have been playing for three years I shoot like a four yet I'm ranked a two. They only raise or lower one player per match and say that it will equal out but it doesn't. So now I get accused of sandbagging all the time. I just shoot my game I can't help that the APA does not know how to rank it's players.

i've never played in a league. as far as i can tell, it doesn't seem that great. there's one league here at the corner pocket. they don't advertize for it very much. when i walked in and discovered that they were getting the season started, i asked to play. the response has put me off the idea for quite a while. they seem really snotty. i'd rather play the owner of the bar and all the regulars that i meet. not only does it keep my game sharper by the rack because i'm always switching players but there's no pressure becasue i'm not trying to keep some systematic rank going.

there are people on that league that are leveled as 8's and i only think they're mediocre. their carom and masse shots are the giveaways.

now granted i have no league experience but, what's the point of playing in a league when your score is only ranked by beating the other leaguers?
i use barroom cues.

Where I live in Florida the only local leagues are all APA but it's fun and everyone tells me that they're all about the same.
