What shafts do you use. What would you recommend for others?

home, can see the finish line, don't spit da bit, begin beating the ass
with your riding whip and yell out like Tarzan, who's yo daddy. When
she screams FL, don't take it too hard, life goes on.

The current question seems to be which cuemakers will tune up a OB-1 shaft with their custom butt and joint they make for an overall good simi-custom cue that matches (joint collars)???

Hey Pel,
Most old timers in my league can shoot the lights out from under yer nose quicker than you can say..Hey I thought I left you safe. And most of the ole farts use cheapo Dufferin cues with 10 mil or less snooker tips.
Ya gotta play them ole guys smart. And you notice they never shoot hard?

Hehehe touche Pel...I was playing in my Singles league last night, against an old friend who just turned 86. He gave me quite a run for my money, got me right up to both of us on the eight ball. I prevailed, but it was one of my most enjoyable matches this season so far. It ended with actually the table taking the game away from him...believe it or not...the table had a slight drift away from one corner pocket and he shot slow, and it drifted into the horn of the pocket and sat there waiting for me to chalk up. It was an easy pot, but we shook hands at the table, had a great chuckle on the shoody table conditions and sat down together and had a bottle of water each. To me that is what playing pool is all about, a great match-up, a friendly outcome and some quality time with great shooters and friends.

I was pleasantly surprised. The 12mm shaft plays fairly well and I had no trouble adapting to the smaller diameter. And while I had feedback from several players that the 12mm would play fine at first but that "they" soon found they could not control it, that has NOT been the case for me.
When I am not playing as well as I think I should, or not making the shots I know I can make, I might put the 13.25mm shaft back on for a few minutes but my primary shaft is now the 12mm. I will try the 11.5 FL suggests but probably not until after the first of the year.
So if you are now using a 12.75mm or larger shaft and you are thinking of sinking big bucks into a smaller diameter shaft such as the Z-Shaft or Tiger-X shaft or the like, think about trying a less expensive smaller diameter shaft first. You will always be able to use it as a backup and it will tell you immediately if you will be happy with a smaller diameter shaft.
I'm glad I did it that way.

Most custom builders are willing to build a shaft for a production cue and many of these builders could use the business.
The rich as Bill Gates MFers at Predator don't need the extra money for their overpriced and gimmicky shafts but that's the devil in me talking and not the nice guy you've all come to expect...
Custom builders will generally provide you with a finer quality maple wood and can make the shaft as stiff or as whippy as your heart desires.

I agree that there is way too much hype out there and they love to toss up the "my deflection is less that your deflection" line. I never believed it, for the most part.
