Only at 11.5 does it play just like my old PP-4 Meucci $850 cue. It becomes hotter than a brand new Puerto Rican credit card. I received my new GB-2 Bushka from FL on Monday. I've been playing with it a lot. The balance is great. It's a 19 oz, and I'd always played with an 18 oz Meucci. I can't even tell the difference while shooting.
The shaft seems nice. I had this one ordered with the turned down shaft (11.5mm). The deflection is definitely no worse than the Meucci Red Dot and is maybe even better. The feel with this shaft is better than the Predator Z shaft that I'd recently bought for the Meucci, and feel was one of the things I was going for in a new purchase. The Meucci is pretty much dead as far as feel goes, and the Z shaft maybe made it even worse. I can now really tell when I don't follow through straight because I'm getting some sideways drift that I didn't feel before when I screwed up.
The workmanship is great. I am still shooting with the LePro tip because I live in the boondocks and will have the tip professionally replaced. I'm getting some miscues on really powerful draws (the kind that FL teaches), but I'm blaming that on the tip knowing my history with these tips. I used to change my own tips but after butchering the ferule on my break cue I decided to pay someone $8 to change them out from now on until I get the proper equipment for a lathe that my friend has :-)
It's a really nice cue. No complaints.

Glad to see the first guy who got one here likes it. Seriously my friends, this cue rocks, it rules. And I guarantee it, this is no bull. It is for real. When you put on the Talisman, your english, draw and power will increase. I'll try and get your limbsaver out today to you.
For $399, it will play circles around any $800 custome cue out there. It is all the cue you will ever need. I play with it on tour for a living.

OK - I've been playing with it for almost a month (and I STILL haven't replaced the tip - I have to do that soon). In any case - I can't imagine that the stick really helped my game as much as it did. I probably had SOMETHING to do with my improvement :-)
But the reason I wanted a new cue was for more feedback than I was getting. I think it's done the trick, because I found that I was miscuing on shots that I thought I wasn't before. My follow through has become straighter because I'm now getting "told by the cue" that I was screwing up.
I'm not a great player - I tend to run a rack of 8 ball only now and again. But I'm getting to the point where I rarely run less than 5 when I'm just shooting to pot, no safes. And this may not sound all that good, but I'm able to clear a table of 9 ball with an average of 2 misses (usually at the beginning of the rack of course), which is FAR better than I was doing before - I'm starting to get some speed control.
The cue has wonderful balance, which I think also contributes to my much more consistent stroke - I'd messed around with my Meucci trying to get the right feel, and never got there. If I didn't need need the Meucci as backup, I'd certainly sell it.
I will say this with conviction now - I think the shaft outperforms the Meucci, even with the red dot or Predator Z on it. The deflection is very nearly non-existent and I use english much more than someone at my level should. Also - I will use a 'mini-masse' or curve shot if I've only got about 1/8th of a blocking ball to get around on a long shot (also something I shouldn't be attempting) and I'm able to perform this shot much more often than before because the cue feels more comfortable when I'm jacked up for the shot.

I just ordered the GB9 cue from Larry. It will have the pro tapered shaft just like the one he uses today.
He let me shoot with his a few times while he was here in Denver giving me lessons. All I can say is that I'm very excited to get it, and start using it on all those drills he taught us.
RHCLD is first on the agenda, along with the 8-7 drill, and most likely the Drill of Doom.
I will report back on it once I get the cue and knock some balls in with it.

It's a good drill for coming off a rail shot. You can go to Fast Larry Pool and check out the encyclopedia of pool area. I think it's in the drills section....it's a very good drill for any rail shot, when there is traffic on the table.

I stumbled upon this site today and they have a bushka pictured that I havent seen before. They call it a pre-production mosconi commemorative cue. Do you carry those, Fast, and if so, how much are they? I may have to start saving for one.

The price of the limbsaver just went up from $29.95, to $31.99, and I still have the lowest price on the net.
