Hi Larry,

In a few of your articles you mention that some of the drills for an APA 4, 5, or 6. I was wondering, if I don't have an APA rating, is there a way to estimate my level? Can I use your running 3 friggin balls drill as a benchmark? What APA level would running 3, 4, 5 balls be equilivant to?

FL answered this in the "Ask Fast Larry any question" message thread, and I thought it'd be worth repeating here for those looking in the Beginners Forum for this type of info. I had always wanted to ask this question myself, being the league I'm in isn't APA. Hope FL doesn't mind me copying his reply here :-)

I was in the apa, began as a 3, every one does, they are beginners, dont have a clue, every one beats them.
a 4 is an average player, he can run 3 or 4 balls, maybe 5.
A 5 is a well seasoned club player. Experience, smart, hard to beat. He can run a rack, but rarely does.

A 6 is a very skilled player. Has all the tools, does not run a lot of racks, but gets out well and is a winner.

A 7 is normally almost a semi pro. He can string a couple of racks on you and get's out in 2 innings every time.

The next step us is the semi pro regional tours. You begin to do well on them, win one or two, you could get invited to, or go out to qualify for the big tours, the IBT 8 ball, or the UPA 9 ball.
