Hello,

I am involved in designing a custom pool table and
I have a stupid question. How many balls fit into a
single drop pocket? I am told that all 15 should fit.
Please let me know and thanks in advance.

Not such a stupid question. My Olehausen (sp?) is a fairly high end table, but I think my pockets only hold about 6 or 7 before it becomes an issue. Unless you're playing one pocket or something, it's never become a problem in a game for me. The only time it's a pain is when doing drills that involve going to a single pocket.

I agree, 6 or 7 balls seems fitting. That way if you're playing 8 ball... you only have to move 1 or 2 balls from the pocket, and that's if you're putting every ball into a single pocket.
same with 9 ball, only move 1 or 2.
14.1 and 1 pocket, people understand you're going to have to keep emptying the pocket throughout the game..

Mr. Otter, there is no such thing as a stupid question here. We are all willing to help with what we know. Plastic pockets hold more balls than leather ones do now.

If a pocket could hold 8 that should be fine. The new Gabriel design has the pocket get wider at the bottom and will hold a bunch, I think around 12?

Most tables I've played on hold about 9 balls.

I have seen a table that had what I could only describe as a rail system for the pocket. Almost like what you would expect to see at a return style table, only the balls didn't return. I didn't play on that table, only next to it and I think it only held about 8 balls per pocket. 15 seems excessive to me. However, if that is what you wanted to accomplish, I think this would be the best way to do it and keep the balls easy to remoce from the pockets.
