I've never seen a few of your shots, and I'm most impressed. I've been looking for people to write articles for PoolChat for some time. I would definately appreciate you submitting some, if you're interested in sharing what you've learned.

And yes, poor table! I always do my masse shots when it's time to recover. It's actually time to recover again so during Christmas I plan to make another masse video....more on that later

1) Do you need a thick heavy cloth to perform some of those shots? or can it be done a a fast slick cloth?
2) How accurate and consistent can you become with the masse shot, can you perform most of those shots on the first try, or do you have to set them up many times before you get it right?
3) Does the cue ball have to be near the rails to perform a masse shot? If not how do you do it from the center of the table?

2. It's possible to become rather accurate, it just takes the time and effort. On many of the shots, when I'm practiced up I could go and hit them my first try. In the second video I posted, for instance, I intentionally let one clip run unedited where I move from one shot to the next. Watch it again, you'll see. It's where I shoot the one around the center of the table to pocket one in the corner, then set up the rainbow masse. I actually made both of those on my first try (as I did many others), but the tape only proves that I set up the rainbow and hit it first try. If that doesn't make much sense, watch it again, you'll see. (It happens at 9:28 into the clip.) Many of the shots though, take several attempts. The last two are tough! The next to last I have practiced and have 1 in 3 tries. The last one I haven't shot since then and would have trouble making now, I'm sure.
3. our friend answered for me, thanks. To add a thought though, near the rail is easier, obviously. It is especially true for smaller guys like me who need to bridge on the leg for stability. Mike Massey and Fast Larry don't require the leg for stability quite like I do. Their stature allows them to hover over the table, their stability allows them to bridge with only an elbow touching their side (bridge over the table), and their (fine-tuned) strength allows them to masse more easily.
I hope that answer suffices.
