I've been out of the loop for a while, with school keeping me so busy, but I wanted to get back on here and post up. Here's a promotional clip for my website - I hope you enjoy it!

Nothing new, reminds me of what I was doing back in 91. Very serious talent here, extremely impressed.

Very impressive! How do you learn to masse like that. I feel masse shot is more valuable then the jump shot because you can keep the ball on the table.

As with any shot, the masse shot takes learning the how/why things work, and lots of practice. There's a theory of physics behind the masse shot that is very intricate. It accounts for each of the variables, such as force of the hit, direction of the hit, elevation, friction of the cloth, etc. I'm sure Larry has an article or two on it. If he doesn't, there are several out there. Learn the "how" and "why", then put it to work on the table. Masse shots take the most precision, I think.

No I don't and I do not teach the draw or masse on the net, I do not think that can be done. Only in person and soon via DVD.

You sir will definetly go past what ever I have done, your talent so young means its yours for the asking. I predict a world championship for you.

Thanks!!! That means a LOT coming from you. I don't wish my life away but I want to hurry up and get out of law school so I can chase the dream. I simply don't have the requisite time to devote to the game right now.

my masse cue is a lucasi with the shaft cut down 12 inches or so, with a tip and ferrule put on it - the tip is a tiger sniper

I just watched the first video. That poor table!

I've never seen a few of your shots, and I'm most impressed. I've been looking for people to write articles for PoolChat for some time. I would definately appreciate you submitting some, if you're interested in sharing what you've learned.

I would like to write an article or two. Email me, if you could, and tell me more about what you're looking for in an article. I could have you something by the end of the year, most likely. Since so many people ask about masse shots, and there's not much written on it, I planned on trying to write on that. Hit me up - psykoyow@hotmail.com

And yes, poor table! I always do my masse shots when it's time to recover. It's actually time to recover again so during Christmas I plan to make another masse video....more on that later ;)

Some questions regarding masse shots

1) Do you need a thick heavy cloth to perform some of those shots? or can it be done a a fast slick cloth?

2) How accurate and consistent can you become with the masse shot, can you perform most of those shots on the first try, or do you have to set them up many times before you get it right?

3) Does the cue ball have to be near the rails to perform a masse shot? If not how do you do it from the center of the table?

if you watch his second video you can see him do a masse shot from the middle of the table. However, he has to put his knee up in the middle of the table to have something to rest his bridge on.

1. any cloth will do, but the thickness affects the shot. Thick cloth absorbs some of the impact of a masse shot, moreso than thinner cloth. For instance, when in public rooms I'll put a "pad" down, which is usually just another piece of simonis. That thickness affects my shot, but you tend to get used to it. As for speed, faster cloth is best!
2. It's possible to become rather accurate, it just takes the time and effort. On many of the shots, when I'm practiced up I could go and hit them my first try. In the second video I posted, for instance, I intentionally let one clip run unedited where I move from one shot to the next. Watch it again, you'll see. It's where I shoot the one around the center of the table to pocket one in the corner, then set up the rainbow masse. I actually made both of those on my first try (as I did many others), but the tape only proves that I set up the rainbow and hit it first try. If that doesn't make much sense, watch it again, you'll see. (It happens at 9:28 into the clip.) Many of the shots though, take several attempts. The last two are tough! The next to last I have practiced and have 1 in 3 tries. The last one I haven't shot since then and would have trouble making now, I'm sure.
3. our friend answered for me, thanks. To add a thought though, near the rail is easier, obviously. It is especially true for smaller guys like me who need to bridge on the leg for stability. Mike Massey and Fast Larry don't require the leg for stability quite like I do. Their stature allows them to hover over the table, their stability allows them to bridge with only an elbow touching their side (bridge over the table), and their (fine-tuned) strength allows them to masse more easily.

I hope that answer suffices. :)
