Sigel and Jones to guest on Best Damn Sports Show

International Pool Tour members Mike Sigel and Loree Jon Jones will be appearing on the Best Damn Sports Show Period on FSN (Fox Sports Net) tonight, Wednesday November 16, 2005 at 10:30pm local time (check listings).

The duo will be promoting their television Premier of their battle for the IPT World 8-Ball Championship title to air the following evening, Thursday November 17th, 2005 at 10:30pm local time (check listings) on a special edition of the Best Damn Sports Show Period.

This exposure on one of the most mainstream sports shows in America could mark the beginning of a new era in pocket billiards.

Well, that may have been the WORST coverage of a pool event I have ever seen.

For as much hyping of "The biggest payoff in pool history" FSN sure did a horrible job.

Interviews with Paul Sorvino and Mario Lopez? Showing Pauley Shore in the audience? Who the hell cares?

Then they proclaim Mike Sigel the greatest pool player in history? Ha. He couldn't carry Mosconi's case. Or Crane's. Hell, he probably couldn't even beat Fats.

They showed a few games and then skipped ahead almost to the end. And they plan on repeating this 3 times tonight alone. Why not show the WHOLE match, really give it some exposure, and then repeat it once?

What a joke. FSN is worse than ESPN.

whenever some sport gets exposure like this it's always gonna appeal more to the mass media rather than the die hard fans.

Why do you think they choose 9 ball rather than straight pool to determine the best pool player in the world? Rubbish, everyone wins and loses in 9 ball. They just want to see run outs. If they REALLY wanted to show who the best player on earth is they'd be playing straight pool.

I haven't seen the FSN event, but I'm just saying that they're trying to market pool. And when you sell you like this you end up dissapointing your die hard fans. It sucks but it happens. One step back for quality, one giant leap for pool marketing.

Gotta start somewhere. I didn't get to watch it, but I'm glad pool is getting more coverage in the media.

That's right WD. A hype is exactly what this was meant to be. It is introducing pool to millions of people that would not normally watch. There in lies the value of the production. If you just want to watch great pool buy some accustats tapes. What Kevin is doing is building from the ground up. If you don't think he knows how to do that just check his bank account.

The whole thing was a promotion for the IPT as an organization. He will build from here. This is pools best shot at going big time for big money with the mainstream understanding it.

I may be too old to see the frutation of this but you are a young man and if this flies you can say you were there when it pecked through the shell while still in the nest. ;-)

I did some reading on the IPT, and it looks promising. I think I'll have to get a tuner card to capture the events on my hard drive. I never have enough pool to watch.... when I have time to watch it. Thanks for bringing it up, sir.
