in reading this forum I see that this hasn't been covered in a while. Seemed most used Meucci's when it was previously covered, but I thought I would ask again.

I bought my first cue for $20 from sports authority many years ago and thought it was great. Looking back it was a real piece, lol. Years later I got a stealth from a local pool hall and have held onto that for a number of years now. Most recently I have bought a Meucci power piston 3 and mailed back the red dot and am awaiting them mailing me a black dot for it. After reading what Fast Larry has said about the red dot I don't know if I made the right choice. The stealth has a suprisingly 'whipy' shaft and I have come accustomed to playing with one. From what I gathered, the red dot is supposedly more flexable than the black dot.

On a side note, has anyone bothered to do a comparison between the black dot and the red dot?

We had a discussion on the black dot / red dot comparison in the following thread:

I've got both (also with a PP-3), and I prefer the Red Dot. I used the Black Dot (which I ordered later on - it came with the Red Dot) for a while, and just had a heck of a time with my game for a while before going back to the Red Dot. But what works for me may not work for you :-)

I sold the stealths for years and even did my entire trick shot show with a $100 model at the Allen Hopkins expo. They had a $135 model that played almost as well as the Meucci and played a lot like the red dot. They were made in the same factory that produced the players cue in China. Stealth was a major power and then fell totally apart and barely exists today mostly selling retail over the net. Their new line is some really weird models. If you can find one of the older models, stainless steel joint and irish linnen wrap, snag and hold on to it.

The red dot is a superior shaft to the black dot which is being reported to be having a lot of wraping by the dealers I visit. I wont use the black dot and do not recommend it. If you want a stiffer low deflection shaft, use the predator 314.

I want to say I paid $150 for the cue with end protectors and a cheap case. I had the linen wrap replaced once along with the tip as both came apart over time. I bought the PP-2 because it looks very similar to the stealth that I have. I guess it may become a collectors item. I can take a picture of it if someone wants to host it. Maybe you could tell me more about it.

Hmm... maybe I should buy a red dot shaft to go along with my black dot and see which one I like better. I really like the way the stealth plays, so I guess I may like the red dot better. I had also heard about the warping problem with the black dots. Hmm... I guess we shall see.

The place went bankrupt, they fired every one, its now 10 times smaller than it was, the quality coming out is scrary and they have no stock. Buy a cue and wait a month, send it in for repairs and you may never get it back. Companies and cues rise and fall. Delta airlines was once great, today they are bankrupt and their service is she-yit. The Koreans made a crap car, today they make the best one.

They were selling a $400 cue and others came out with $200 cues that played just as good. They were virtually wiped out and eliminated by their competition. Yes, do acquire a red dot, that is a fine excellent shaft and should last longer with fewer problems than something in 10 pieces glued together. I take a solid piece of wood every time.

Before you buy any product, they must have 3 things, a competitive price, quality which is backed up and they must ship on time and offer first class service. When any company fails on any one of the 3, or in this case, now fails on all 3, I then withdraw my recommendation and support. Caveat empor.

Here on pool chat, you always get the straight story. You may not like the news, but it is always the truth.
