Dear Fast,

There is a second edition of "Pleasures of Small Motions" out, and has about 50% more material than the first edition. Have you seen it, and is it worthwhile buying the second edition if the first edition is already at hand?

Best,

Black-dot
Zing it in... :-D

I just picked it up since it was brought to my attention through this post.

I know that I have a weak mental game and I can easily be focused on the wrong things.

Lately I've been really frustrated playing pool lately, and I'm hoping this book will help me to enjoy it. So far it seems to have some interesting insight as far as setting goals, and enjoying pool (though I've only had time to read the first chapter with all the end of semester stuff).

So far it seems to be well done, and has a very interesting tact to it, so I'm looking forward to having time to finish it.

Edit: Nothing like reading a post of yours that was made at 3:30 a.m. to find errors. . .

Hmm, interesting. I might have to go pick up a copy. I have been having the same issue lately. Where I can't seem to get some of my shots to fall and that obviously cuts my runs short and doesn't allow my confidence to grow more. I don't feel down on my self, just not flying high. More than a bit frustrating since we are heading into the playoff season. Take care!

Thanks!

There is so little written on this subject that is good and this is on of the people you want to focus on, also the song, timeless motion, hard to find.

Who is the author? Bob Fancher?

Yes, Bob Fancher is the author, and I would recommend it.

It reminded me to be aware of all parts of the stroke, which has helped me considerably. When I was having more and more problems I was trying to fix it by just making sure the cue made contact with the cue ball at exactly the right point, and it wasn't helping me, along with other little "tricks". My game has started to improve once more working with some of the strategies in the book, and not just trying to "cheat".

When was the new(est) edition published?

Or, maybe slightly easier, what is the cover like on the newest?

The most recent I've found was published in 2002.

It sounds like the newest is a big step on from the previous edition, so if I buy it, I want to make sure I get the best one!

Cheers

The one that I have says it was published in 2002, and it says it's the Revised and expanded edition underneath the title.

I like taking notes in my books and highlighting stuff. The library frowns on that one.

Just helps me find stuff later when I am looking for pointers/reminders.

If the book is really important to you take your library copy to office depot and copy it, takes some time but that is a solution. Some very old 1800 books were copied for me so I could read them. A copy is not as good as having the origiinal, but its better than nothing at all.

I finally finished my copy of Pleasure of Small Motions. It was fantastic. I have never heard anyone who could put into words what is going on inside of my head. Now it will be easier for me to understand and execute what I need to do (after some practice of course) because now I know what the sequence is. I can't wait to get all of this info worked into my routine...
